Guided tour to Casa Vicens with our collaborators

Fecha de inicio:
17 January 2018

Last Wednesday January 17th, we organized an exclusive guided tour for our collaborators to Casa Vicens, which has opened its doors turned into a museum and cultural space, thanks to the heritage recovery project of restoration implemented during the last years. The director, Joan Abellà, and Mercedes Mora, institutional representative accompanied us during the tour.

Casa Vicens was built between 1883 and 1885 as the summer residence of the Vicens family in the old town of Gràcia, and in 2005 it was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. It is the first masterpiece of Gaudí, a prelude to his later work, and one of the first buildings to inaugurate Modernism in Catalonia and Europe.

Casa Vicens has undergone a process of profound transformation as a result of the restoration projects carried out with the aim of adding value and recovering the work as it was conceived by Gaudí at the end of the 19th century. This architectural intervention facilitates the reading and interpretation of the original house, and makes it possible to adapt its spaces to the new cultural use of the house, into a museum house.

Casa Vicens has been equipped with several exhibition spaces that will host the permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions and specific interventions by artists, designers and contemporary architects.
