Guided tour to the exhibition “Warhol. The mechanical art” in the CaixaForum

Fecha de inicio:
20 September 2017

On Wednesday September 20th, we organized an exclusive guided tour with our collaborators to the exhibition "Warhol. The mechanical art" at CaixaForum Barcelona.

An exhibition on Andy Warhol’s creative development, from his beginnings as a graphic designer in New York until his death, having already become a universal myth of pop art.

The show highlights the way in which Andy Warhol (Pittsburgh, 1928 - New York, 1987) captured the worship of consumerism icons arising from industrial inventions of the nineteenth century. Always attentive to both technical and industrial advance, Warhol used all kinds of techniques and machines, from screen-printing to video recorder, with productive patterns that he defined as an "assembly-line"

The Rolling Stones, Jean M. Basquiat, Marcel Duchamp, Marylin Monroe, Elvis Presley or David Bowie were some of the myths transformed by Warhol into cultural merchandise.

Together with a selection of essays written by theorists of his work, the exhibition includes a section of portraits of the artist, taken by photographers such as Richard Avedon, Alberto Schommer or Robert Mapplethorpe.

The exhibition will be opened until December 31, 2017.
