Meeting with the new MACBA team

Last November 29th, the MACBA Foundation organized an exclusive meeting for its collaborators at the Meier Auditorium with the director and the new curatorial team of the MACBA.

The Director of the MACBA, Ferran Barenblit, together with Tanya Barson, Chief Curator of exhibitions and Collection and Pablo Martínez, Head of Public and Educational Programmes, presented the exhibition programme and the lines of work and challenges for the next months.

The meeting counted also with the participation of Ainhoa Grandes, President of the MACBA Foundation, who explained the projects to continue expanding the MACBA Collection and the way to support the museum with educational and social programmes, with the aim of spreading contemporary art and reaching all kind of audiences. She also presented the program of activities of next 2017.

Ferran Barenblit (Buenos Aires, 1968) studied History of art at the University of Barcelona and Museology at New York University. Since 2008 he has been director of the CA2M Arts Center Dos de Mayo of the Community of Madrid, and was previously director of the Center d'Art Santa Mònica (2002-2008) and curator of Espai 13 at the Fundació Joan Miró.

Tanya Barson (London, 1972) was a curator of International Art at Tate Modern for 9 years. Previously, she was curator of Exhibitions and Collection at Tate Liverpool (2004-2007). She also stands out for his career as curator of individual exhibitions dedicated to artists such as Mira Schendel (2013), Helio Oiticica (2007), Frida Kahlo (2005) and Assume Vivid Astro Focus (2005).

Pablo Martínez (Valladolid, 1979) has been responsible for Education and Public Activities at CA2M since 2009, and was previously coordinator of educational programs at the Museo Reina Sofía (2004-2008) and educator at the Patio Herreriano Museum.
