Last Thursday, May 9th, we organized a visit for our collaborators to the exhibition Max Beckmann (Leipzig, 1884 - Nova York, 1950) at CaixaForum. It was a great opportunity to discover the expressionist artist in our city, which hosts for the first time an important journey through his work, thanks to the collaboration between the CaixaForum and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza.

Along the visit we could get to know the two main periods of the artist: in the first place, when Beckmann lived in Germany before the rise of Nazism, receiving a great acknowledgement and developing a prolific creation, plenty of deformed and grotesque figures. Later, we got in touch with his exile period in Amsterdam and New York through four metaphors: “Masks”, about the loss of identity; “Electric Babylon”, about the city in modern times; “The long goodbye”, about the fear for death and, finally, “The sea”, about the infinite and the nostalgia.

We enjoyed an excellent display about one of the most remarkable artists from the last century, which is open to the public until the 26th May 2019.
